Technology

Blending innovation with patient comfort

I-CAT® IMAGING

At Sydenham Dental Group we are able to provide up to date imaging reports using the latest technology.

Unlike traditional x-rays and the more recent panoramic x-rays, cone beam imaging blends innovation with patient comfort. The I-cat® Cone beam 3-D imaging system produces immediate three dimensional images of patient’s critical anatomy, typical in less than ten seconds.

This 3-D imaging gives the dentist the opportunity to more thoroughly analyse bone structure, tooth orientation, and joint space and detect and evaluate deformities and pathologies. The benefits are extraordinary.

Dental professionals are able to improve diagnosis, accuracy, and treatment results. Their patients are able to see a visual diagnosis, understand their treatment options and receive superior treatment as a result of the anatomically-true information provided by the I-cat® scan.

Patient’s benefit from the integration of I-cat® into their treatment because our ability to execute complex multidisciplinary treatment hinges on our ability to plan. There is no single better tool available to obtain diagnostic information than the I-cat and we are pleased to be offering nothing less to our patients.

ITERO SCANNER

At the Sydenham Dental Group we have taken away the fear and discomfort of having traditional dental mouth impressions by incorporating 3D digital scanning into our workflow.

The iTero scanner is a new 3D scanning technology. Using the latest developments in intraoral scanning, the iTero scanner accurately scans your teeth and other structures . The itero scanner is made up of a wand like device which is used to scan your teeth and jaws. The data it collects then appears on the computer screen, allowing you to see the dental image the scanner is taking.

The iTero scanner works in with Invisalign treatment, orthodontics, restorations as well as specialised treatments such as crowns and veneers, and replaces the need for the old fashioned “impression” which is often a “mouthful” and not very comfortable.

The iTero scanner also allows us to be able to produce digital simulation with Invisalign so you can see the possible treatment outcome with Invisalign in just 5 minutes.

ASIGA MAX

Here at Sydenham Dental Group, we are proud to be one of the very few dental practices in Australia utilizing In-house 3D digital dental printing.

The Asiga MAX is known for being the world’s advanced 3D printer with exceptional productivity and a small footprint. With this printer, we can manufacture dental orthodontics, crown and bridge, dental models, surgical guides, and partial dentures. With its unique SPS™ process, every layer is accurately formed. The printer utilises UV LEDs to provide a sharper detail definition, accuracy, and production reliability.

CORiTEC one

Revolutionary dental milling is a digital way of creating restorations (fillings and crowns) which would normally be hand-made by a laboratory technician after taking rubber moulds, and would normally take 2 appointments over 3 weeks.

Optical scans are used instead which have a much higher accuracy, remove the need for taking moulds(impressions) and enables a computerised design for idealised tooth form and function.

These types of restorations provide patients with highly-attractive, tooth-coloured inlays, crowns and veneers in a single appointment.

Because ceramic is such a strong, resilient material, it is the ultimate choice for cosmetic restorations, which now can be delivered in a single visit.

PICASSO SOFT TISSUE LASER

We have a soft tissue/diode laser which is used to sculpt the gum contour prior to cosmetic dentistry and create symmetrical soft tissue outlines to better frame the smile.

This laser can also be used to remove the frenum (the soft tissue web to the top lip or tongue tie) with little or no bleeding, no cutting with scalpels, and no sutures.

Using the Picasso Soft Tissue diode laser has revolutionised soft tissue surgery in our office.

DENTAL MICROSCOPES & DENTAL LOUPES

Here at Sydenham Dental Group, all of our dental surgeons wear professional Grade Surgical Loupes and use dental microscopes when necessary.

With Dental Loupes, and microscopes, dental procedures can be performed more accurately and reliably using variable and adjustable magnification, and an incredibly enhanced field of view. This will increase the following:

Magnified Image – Loupes & Microscopes provide 3 x to 30 x magnification with the ability to see dental tissues with detail that is impossible to the naked eye. Microscopes can also offer a deeper depth of field of view and a wider field of view than traditional dental loupes.

Increased Precision – The increased magnification allows the Dental Surgeons at Sydenham Dental Group to be more precise with tooth tissue removal, reducing excessive tooth cutting which may damage teeth and reduce their life span in the mouth. This increased precision also improves our ability to diagnose dental diseases which, in turn, benefits our patients.

Improved Visualisation –  Dental Surgeons can only treat what they can see. The microscope lens can be placed directly over the patient’s mouth without any additional discomfort.

DSD SMILE DESIGN (DSD)

Smile Design dentistry allows our dental professionals to design custom crowns and veneers that are tailored to the specific requirements and demands of the patient.

Using these state-of-the-art technologies and innovative techniques, our dentists can deliver superior aesthetic smile design What Does the Process Involve?

The digital dentistry process begins with a consultation with one of our Smile Design dentists. This will involve an examination of your teeth and gums to identify any existing aesthetic problems that can be corrected. Next, a number of photos of the teeth will be taken, and impressions will be made of the upper and lower teeth. Using a computer, all of this information is then used to design the changes that will be made. You’ll be able to see what your new smile will look like before any work is performed, so you can decide if you’re happy to go ahead.

Procedures used to achieve your dream smile may include:

  • Teeth whitening
  • Veneers
  • Crowns
  • Gum contouring
  • Dental implants
The Benefits of Using Digital Smile Design

Digital Smile Design offers a number of great benefits. First and foremost, it enables the patient to see what their crowns and veneers will look like before the procedure starts. This means they get to see what their dream smile will look like in advance, which can be a deeply emotional and rewarding experience. Secondly, DSD Smile Design enables the dentist to plan the procedure based on the final outcome that the patient has approved. The dentist will know exactly what they have to construct and the patient will know what they are going to get, ensuring that there is no miscommunication or disappointment.

How Much Digital Dentistry Design Cost?

The cost of digital smile design in Melbourne can vary depending on a range of factors, including the dental problem that needs correcting and the procedures needed to accomplish the desired results. It’s recommended that you come in for an initial consultation where our dentists can examine your mouth and provide you with an accurate digital dentistry cost estimate.
